Book Exchange
Book Exchange

Policy Update: All listed books will be marked as sold at the beginning of each semester. This ensures that the database is always up to date. If you are a seller, you can easily re-list one of your books that was marked as sold by logging in, choosing My Books, and marking the book(s) as available again.

What is the book exchange?
The book exchange aims to use technology to improve the difficulties involved in exchanging textbooks through traditional methods such as book sales. The exchange allows Rice Students to easily and efficiently buy, sell, and rent used textbooks through our online system.
Why should I use the book exchange?
It's free, convienent, searchable, and reduces spam in Rice Facebook groups. Rather than having to spend hours finding the book you need at various book sales, you can discover sellers instantly through our online interface. If you're looking to sell a book, all you have to do is enter some information and wait for a buyer to contact you - it's that easy.
Who can use the book exchange?
The book exchange is only available to current Rice University students. In order to use the book exchange, you must have a valid Rice University Net ID. Only people with an active Rice University Net ID can view the information in the exchange or list new books. If you have already graduated, you can ask a current Rice Student to list your books for you.
How does it work?
The book exchange allows sellers to list their books and contact information in our database. After listing their books, buyers can search through the database using our powerful search tool to find someone selling the books they need.

Our service does not handle monetary transactions. After finding a book you want, you (the buyer) should contact the seller using their provided contact information. The two of you can then agree on a price, payment method, and delivery method. After a book is sold, the seller needs to manually remove it from the listing.
How can I get started?
To start using the book exchange, simply log in with your Rice University Net ID.
