Duncan College
O-Week
What is O-Week?
O-week will be one of the best weeks of your life and it will help your transition into the Rice community, whether you are a freshman, a transfer from another university, or an exchange student. All students new to Rice are encouraged to participate in O-week. Why?

Duncan College O-Week 2012 has been designed with YOU in mind. It will acclimate you to the academic and social life at Rice and will introduce you to one of Rice's most unique institutions: the residential college system. Duncan will be your home for the next three, four, five years, and O-week is just the start of becoming part of our large Duncan family. You will spend the entire week guided by your 3 advisors and will have a blast with 8 or 9 fellow students. You will meet a lot of new people and might experience a lot of new things (competitions against other colleges, academic advising, Associate's dinner, etc.) but don't worry, your coordinators and advisors will be there with you every step of the way and they're so excited to be planning this awesome week for you!

The University's O-Week website can be found here.
Why "ApollO-Week"?
We have selected ApollO-Week, a reference to the voyages undertaken by some of the bravest people on our planet to expand our understanding of the universe, and a tribute to the 50th anniversary of the speech given by former president John F. Kennedy at the Rice Stadium. Space was the final frontier, something that was impossible to breach. Yet this frontier was challenged and overcome with tremendous fortitude, determination, and teamwork, in a story that was nothing short of incredible. So let the legend of space exploration inspire YOU to climb aboard the ApollO MMXII and make Duncan and Rice an even greater place; we can’t wait to see you on August 12th!
